Dental caries continues to be the most common chronic disease affecting children in the United States. The office of Oral Health (Massachusetts Department of Public health) has reported 48% of third graders to have a dental caries experience. From 2018, Let’s Smile Boston, an undergraduate volunteer force, has aimed to reduce this statistic by increasing children’s awareness about the importance of oral health in select classrooms and different types of communities.
